Instructions for Applying to Lalanne
Please read the instructions carefully and submit all materials postmarked no later than February 1, 2013 to Lalanne, 300 College Park Drive, Dayton OH 45469-0531 (must include the +4 digits).
Please be sure that you include all requested information in your application packet and send everything in one mailing. The application and all supporting materials must be typed and completed in full. Your complete Lalanne Application package should include:
1. Printed and signed copy of the Application (personal history/information sheets). Please download and type in the Word template provided. Use your tab key to move from one box to the next to enter your information. Save as a pdf.
2. Typed essay responses to each of the three topics which are provided at the end of the application. Please limit responses to two double-spaced pages for each topic.
3. Three sealed recommendation packets (one from each person: 1. a peer, 2. a professor, and 3. a work or community service supervisor). Each recommender should be someone who is familiar with your character, interests, and academic ability. PLEASE NOTE: You will need to submit the three recommendations along with your application. There are special instructions at the top of the ‘Request for Recommendation’ document.
4. Official college/university transcripts if not from the University of Dayton.
5. Photograph - head shot
6. Any additional information or material that you feel would be of interest or importance to the selection committee.
7. In addition, those applying to Lalanne are required to apply to the University of Dayton graduate school (http://www.udayton.edu/apply/graduate.php). We encourage you to work on both applications simultaneously; however, this application does not need to be completed until you have received a teaching placement in Lalanne which could be as late as May 31, which leaves a small window of time to finalize acceptance into grad school and register for summer classes.
Lalanne will share Letters of Recommendation and Transcripts with the Graduate Admissions Office - you only need 3 letters of recommendation in total. While completing your grad school application, state in you personal statement that you are applying to Lalanne, this will let the Graduate Office know that they will receive letters of recommendation from the Lalanne office once you have been accepted into the program. The "Programs of Study" page under "What's it like to be a Lalanne teacher?" will help you with which degree to select. Please note that once placed and you arrive on campus for Lalanne Orientation you will meet with an advisor to finalize your choice of degree.
All of the above materials should be submitted by mail together with the application. This information, at a subsequent point, may be shared in full or in part with school officials responsible for your job placement. PLEASE BE SURE THAT THIS APPLICATION IS TYPED AND PREPARED AS CAREFULLY AS POSSIBLE.
